Packing for your holiday
What ever you think you need, you can probably halve it.  A good trick is to always put your children in layers.  This saves taking bulky jerseys which then will probably not wear.  Also if it is warm I have often found that my sons put on their Bermuda style swimming shorts in the morning, and since they dry so fast, they actually end pretty much wearing them all day everyday.  Equally, pyjamas take up space and kids are often quite happy to bath, pop on a t-shirt and soft jersey shorts, and then have a last run around and fall quietly into bed.  So now I don’t even bother packing pjs.  Remember, this is a holiday, you can break any rules you want, just make sure that it makes it easier for you and they think that it is a treat.

Next, you need to be ready for the actual journey.  Do not expect your children to be perfect, holidays are exciting so don’t ask too much of them and then they will probably surprise you and behave far better than you expected.  Do however, be prepared and buy some special activity packs, sticker books or whatever they will see as a treat and don’t let them have it too early.  If you are in for a long day then you need to manage the treats.

Finally, don’t worry about anyone outside of your family.Kids much prefer to play eye spy with you, than have to hear you constantly asking them to keep the volume low due to the other passengers.  However boring the other passengers may find eye spy, it is a lot better than hearing a parent shouting or a kid screaming.

Now you just have to remember to have a fabulous time and to stay calm.

An acquaintance of Lee is quoted as saying “…he was a game addict. We all knew about it. He couldn’t stop himself.”

Interestingly given the circumstances of the case, a huge 30 per cent of the South Korean population; that is more than 15million people, are registered for online gaming    It is no surprise to hear that the annual World Cyber Games are operated by a South Korean corporation, backed by A-List corporations including Samsung and Microsoft

Apparently not only the students who belong to the minority group such as the African American race who are prejudiced, the same minority group of educators are also singled out in their own academic institution.

Despite years of battle for equality, racial discrimination is still one of the common crises in the public schools of the country. Sad but true, for the longest time, the minority group such as the African American race is still in battle for their rights and privilege as citizens of the country. Without surprise, it not only the minority students who have to live with being discriminated in school, but also the educators who are non-white. This crisis has been crippling the quality of education in public schools because it is not seriously condemned.

The confidence level of students who belong to the minority group is low because of inferiority. The colour of their skin becomes an automatic declaration of weakness, inadequacy, and a disability in school or in the society. In effect, minority students, for the longest time, are hesitant to spread their wings—just until America elected for the first black president. Interestingly, studies on the success of home-schooled students in the past showed that the minority students actually faired equally well with the performance of the whites. When the same standardized tests were administered in public schools, turned out that the percentile score of the whites outweighed that of the minority’s. These test results simply show that discrimination principally impedes the learning opportunities of students belonging to the minority group.

Based on studies results in the past, African American students and those who belong to the minority group did not excel in academics as the effect of discrimination in the campus. Discrimination locked minority students in their shell until the victory of the first black president. Home-schooled students faired equally well with each other regardless of race.   However, when the same tests were administered to the students in public schools, there was a great disparity between the grades of the whites and the minority group. Evidently, the learning atmosphere has got a lot to do about the performance of students.

Non-white students seldom excel in academic activities because of inferiority complex. Instead of developing self esteem and confidence at school, these are not seemingly enhanced. Speaking their minds out means a possibility of being mocked, laughed at, and rejected; hence they stay inferior. In a past study conducted to assess the success performance of home-schooled students, it was found out that minority students played equally well with the whites. In the public school set-up, the performance of the whites outweighed that of the minority. In essence, it is the appropriateness of the study place that contributes significantly to the capability of the students in academics.

In the same line, educators who belong to the minority group experience being prejudiced specifically in employment when they are being retrenched. (Un)intentionally, the present administration’s turnaround plan in public education “streamlined” the African American veteran educators, but surprisingly replaced them with younger whites.

Discrimination is not only true for students; even African American educators also get rejected, humiliated and discriminated. A group of veteran educators in Chicago was removed from work because of the administration’s turnaround plan in public schools. They were replaced by white American teachers who were much younger than them.

It is not only the students of minority race who suffer from discrimination, but also educators. In a recent incident, Chicago public school terminated non-white educators. White American teachers who were much younger than them took over their positions.

Can this dilemma of racial discrimination in the public education be resolved?
